The Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach is responsible for assisting the head coach in providing leadership and management functions to produce a quality intercollegiate team that represents a commitment to excellence both academically and athletically. Assist in managing all aspects of the men’s basketball program including player recruitment, practice schedules, weekly mail outs, organizing home visits, organizing official and unofficial visits, athletic academic success and coaching of the men’s basketball program. The Assistant coach will represent Delta College in a positive manner, complying with all Michigan Community College Athletic Association and the NJCAA rules and regulations. Providing player and staff safety. Monitoring behavior of students at practices, in games and while traveling.
Essential Responsibilities:
Assist with recruitment of high school players, including recruitment by evaluation, phone and letters to coaches and players.
Maintain knowledge of offensive and defensive coaching strategies.
Assist with pre/post workouts
Exchange tapes with opponents and ensure taps/video equipment are prepared for home and away games
Record statistics for each game
Assist the head coach in updating the men’s basketball athletic web page.
Represent Delta College and the Men’s Basketball program in a professional manner.
Requires independent decision making, and ability to exercise good judgment and use critical thinking skills.
This position will report directly to the Head Coach and is a member of the Athletic Department.
Part-time (Up to 20 hrs/wk) Hourly rate of pay: $10/hr. paid between October 1st – March 30th
