It is the responsibility of the head men’s basketball coach to lead a successful NCAA Division II program at Regis University. The athletic programs are the front porch to the institution and it is paramount that the head coach operates the men’s basketball program in a manner that is representative of Regis University. Excellence shall be attained through athletic success, academic achievement, service learning and leadership development.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
The head coach shall perform all duties pertaining to the men’s basketball program. Duties include but are not limited to:
• Fielding a highly competitive program in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, the South Central Region and nationally;
• Coach and schedule games, practice and conditioning;
• Professional development and professional organization membership and meeting attendance;
• Recruit qualified student-athletes;
• Monitor and balance the team budgets;
• Participate in fundraising activities for the Athletic Department;
• Monitor student-athlete’s academic performance;
• Maintain facilities and equipment;
• Hire and supervise a coaching staff;
• Promote the brand of the Athletic Department and Regis University;
• Organize Service Learning opportunities for men’s basketball student-athletes;
• Create an atmosphere of compliance according to the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of the University, NCAA and Conference regulations governing intercollegiate athletics, and department operating procedures established by the Director of Athletics.
