Under the direction of the Director of Student Programs and Athletics, manage all aspects of the college’s men’s basketball program including but not limited to recruitment of prospective student-athletes, academic success of student-athletes, game and practice strategy and supervision of an Assistant Coach(es).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct all basketball operations in compliance with the Western Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference (WPCC) bylaws, National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) bylaws and college policies and procedures.
Oversee conditioning, practices and all game day activities related to the team’s participation.
Work with the Director of Athletics and Student Programs to coordinate the development and promotion of the men’s basketball program.
Recruit student-athletes for the program and development of student-athletes both on and off the court in compliance with WPCC, NJCAA and college regulations and guidelines regarding the recruitment and retention of student-athletes.
Mentor student-athletes in their academic performance to ensure timely progress towards degree completion and graduation.
Interact with athletic administration and the financial aid office to create and maintain a financial aid plan. Develop financial packages for players based on residency, financial aid and scholarship ability.
Represent the Community College of Beaver County and the men’s basketball program in a professional manner and exhibit sportsmanship at all times.
Work with the Director of Athletics and Student Programs to develop and oversee the budget and resource management for the men’s basketball program.
Perform other departmental- and program-related duties as required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position has supervisory responsibilities for any and all Assistant Coaches.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree from four-year College or university; or one to two years related experience
and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
