Wainwright replaced at DePaul

Posted by The DirtKing on Monday, January 11, 2010 at 11:54am.

In a not-so-surprising move, Jerry Wainwright has been let go as the head coach at DePaul. Assistant Tracy Webster will will serve as interim head coach for the remainder of the 2009-10 season.

Definitely no shocking news here - in fact, I can't believe he lasted this long. I thought for sure that DePaul was going to make a move last spring, but they didn't after Wainwright replaced his staff.

Memo to Head Coaches and AD's: replacing your entire staff in the off-season won't help. The same situation happened at Dartmouth this off-season, and head coach Terry Dunn was then let go 13 games into this season. Just make the change in the off-season and move on.

We'll post a list of potential replacements for the DePaul job as we hear.
